Sweet and Salty

They each take a bite, having their usual conversation about nothing and everything at once. Her hair wet from the shower, washing off another day spend at home - waiting for him or simply submerged in her favorite environment. His lips tell her how good it tastes. A meal she made up in her mind an hour before. Throwing some vegetables in a pan, adding the usual spices – cardamon, cumin, garlic with a splash of lemon. He adores her cooking, actually he adores her – explaining how much she means to him. An explanation she gives by the food she serves him – dessert always, because no meal is ever complete without something sweet.
The next morning, waking up alone as usual – going on a run, showering, in the kitchen again. She misses him – he does never spend the night, not comfortable enough yet. Still hungry for more, actually always hungry for more, because can life itself ever be enough. She tries to quiet this thought with something simple – eggs, tomato, cottage cheese with a slice of sourdough. Now energized to take on the day. Loosing track as the hours pass by. How? Value given through the act of admiration for her hobbies, her world, herself.
In the afternoon, getting dressed. Lost yet again because she does not like any of her clothes – is this only an issue she faces? Originating in women`s sizing, her bodytyp or live with after recovering from an ed? She wears her favorite black slacks, white tee and trainers. On the way now, meeting her girl for a coffee. Meaningful conversation –diving into the connection between past experiences and her inability to make decisions. Both deciding on matcha with oat milk – coconut would be better, but sometimes you have to be okay with mediocracy. The sweet treat however is nowhere near mediocracy – how can a cookie evoke such pleasure? Chocolate all over their lips, laughing. They have been friends for a bit, but something changed - tightening this dynamic. She tells her everything, from the run she had, the drama at work and the meals she eats. Happy, grateful, satisfied and satiated. Never actually starving since she entered her life – the perfect duo - sweet and salty.
